Transgenerational Whispers: How Ancestral Experiences Affect a New Generation
NU School of Biotechnology was honored to host an inspiring talk on Transgenerational Whispers: How Ancestral Experiences Affect a New Generation by Dr. Ahmed Elewa, Assistant Professor at Augsburg University, USA. Our attendees were captivated as Dr. Elewa shared his groundbreaking research on the fascinating impact of ancestral life histories on future generations. From epigenetics to embryonic plasticity, the session shed light on the science of multigenerational adaptations. We extend our gratitude to Dr. Elewa for his invaluable insights and to everyone who joined this thought-provoking
AfricaBP Workshop: Exploring Bioinformatics in Marine Biology - A Bioinformatics Approach to Biodiversity Loss
The School of Biotechnology at Nile University successfully concluded its second round of the 5-day workshop, "Exploring Bioinformatics in Marine Biology: A Bioinformatics Approach to Biodiversity Loss," moderated by Dr. Asmaa Abu Shady, the School’s Vice Dean and member of the African Biogenome Project (AfricaBP) consortium. Participants explored cutting-edge techniques to analyze complex datasets and combat marine biodiversity loss. This workshop was a significant step towards achieving the goals of the AfricaBP, a pan-African initiative dedicated to sequencing the genomes of thousands of
Dr. Maria Iasmina Moza Gives a Seminar on the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve
The School of Biotechnology was honored to host a captivating lecture by Dr. Maria Iasmina Moza, Assistant Professor of Microbiology at the University of Bucharest, Romania. Co-hosted with the special guest, Prof. Ahmed Abdel-Azim, Professor of Mycology at the Botany and Microbiology Department at the Faculty of Science, Suez Canal University, the seminar provided a deep dive into the ecological dynamics of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve and the potential environmental threats posed by Cyanobacteria. This provided students with valuable insights into the complex interactions within this
Members of the OPPM Project Convene for a Final All-Partners Meeting in Oviedo, Spain
Members of the OPPM program, including Nile University, convened in Oviedo, Spain, for a final All-Partners Meeting. The meeting aimed to discuss the project's progress, recent updates, and strategies for sustaining its mission moving forward. OPPM is a consortium funded by the European education program ERASMUS+ that aims to design the first diploma and MSc programs in pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine in Egypt and the Middle East. The consortium is led by Alexandria University and includes universities and organizations from around the globe, including Nile University.
Student Nabil Hazza Performs an Internship at Osaka University Graduate School of Science in Japan
We are incredibly proud of our biotechnology senior student, Nabil Hazza, who recently completed a prestigious summer internship at Osaka University Graduate School of Science in Japan! Nabil had the amazing opportunity to join Professor Naotada Ishihara’s lab, where he explored the dynamics of mitochondrial fusion and fission. His research internship focused on studying the role of DRP1 protein on the morphology of the mitochondrial nucleoid. This enriching experience reflects the exceptional talent and dedication of our students at Nile University. Keep shining, Nabil!
