Dr. Ahmed Elewa Gives a Seminar on Epigenetics and Embryonic Plasticity
NU School of Biotechnology was honored to host an inspiring talk on Transgenerational Whispers: How Ancestral Experiences Affect a New Generation by Dr. Ahmed Elewa, Assistant Professor at Augsburg University, USA. Our attendees were captivated as Dr. Elewa shared his groundbreaking research on the fascinating impact of ancestral life histories on future generations. From epigenetics to embryonic plasticity, the session shed light on the science of multigenerational adaptations. We extend our gratitude to Dr. Elewa for his invaluable insights and to everyone who joined this thought-provoking
AfricaBP Workshop: Exploring Bioinformatics in Marine Biology - A Bioinformatics Approach to Biodiversity Loss
The School of Biotechnology at Nile University successfully concluded its second round of the 5-day workshop, "Exploring Bioinformatics in Marine Biology: A Bioinformatics Approach to Biodiversity Loss," moderated by Dr. Asmaa Abu Shady, the School’s Vice Dean and member of the African Biogenome Project (AfricaBP) consortium. Participants explored cutting-edge techniques to analyze complex datasets and combat marine biodiversity loss. This workshop was a significant step towards achieving the goals of the AfricaBP, a pan-African initiative dedicated to sequencing the genomes of thousands of
School of Biotechnology Students Perform Internships at the Institute of Systems Biology (INBIOSIS) in Malaysia
As part of an ongoing collaboration between Nile University's School of Biotechnology and the Institute of Systems Biology (INBIOSIS) in University Kebangsaan Malaysia, students Abdelrahman Shawky and Omnia Asker successfully received 2 internship positions which they started on the 1st of July and concluded on the 21st of September, 2024. Abdelrahman and Omnia conducted proteomics and metabolomics experiments under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sayarul Nataqain Baharum, Director of INBIOSIS, Senior Lecturer Dr. Ahmed Mediani, and Research Fellow Dr. Hamizah Shahirah Hamezah.
