The NU School of Biotechnology Flies to Lebanon to Attend the Semi-annual OPPM All-partner Meeting

The NU School of Biotechnology flew to Beirut, Lebanon to Attend the All-Partner Meeting for the Online Pharmacogenomics and Personalized Medicine Program (OPPM), which is a consortium funded by ERASMUS+ that aims to create a postgraduate diploma and MSc program in pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine.

This is the first postgraduate program in pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine in Egypt and one of the pioneering programs in the Middle East. The consortium is led by Alexandria University and includes universities and organizations from all around the world.

The consortium also includes an honorary member, the Magdy Yaqoub Heart Foundation.

The All-Partner Meeting was held on the campus of Beirut Arab University at the department of Health Sciences, which is led by the dean Prof. Rajaa Fakhoury, the principal host of the event. Over the course of the 6th and 7th of February, live discussions were held on the milestones achieved thus far by the project and future plans of the OPPM program. This is the second All-Partner Meeting to be held, whereby the first meeting was held in Oviedo, Spain, in July 2022.

The OPPM project was inaugurated in December 2021 and the OPPM diploma and MSc program are expected to launch at the end of 2023.
