Biotech Students Participating in the 15th UGRF
On the 28th of January, sophomore and junior undergraduate biotechnology students participated in the 15th season of the Undergraduate Research Forum (UGRF), which is a competition that takes place twice annually: once on the scale of individual university subjects and once on a national scale.
The 15th season took place on a university subject scale where student groups from each subject participated in the competition with different research projects and competed against each other. In the Sophomore class, Biochemistry and Histology subjects participated in the competition. Whereas From the Applied Biotechnology major from the Junior class, Molecular Biology, and Genetic Engineering subjects participated. As for the Bioinformatics major from the Junior class, the Advanced Programming course participated in this season of the UGRF.
In the Sophomore class, the following student team from the Histology subject won first place for the project titled, “Treatment of depression using Ferulic acid extracted from sugar beet”:

In the Biochemistry subject, the following student team won first place for the project titled “comparative study between the effect of SDBS, STPP and rhamnolipids to increase water purification from heavy metals (Cd) using water lettuce (Pistia stratiots)”:

In the Histology subject, the following student team won second place for the project titled, “Treatment of hyperlipidemia using guava leaf and pomegranate peel extracts (comparative study)”:
