Ahmed ElAtfy

Ahmed ElAtfy is a committed academic and a passionate researcher deeply invested in the world of cognitive neuroscience with a Master of Science (MSc) in Applied Neuroscience from the University of Dundee obtained in 2021. Ahmed's educational journey began with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biotechnology from the German University in Cairo (GUC) in 2017, where he showcased his interdisciplinary talents and unwavering enthusiasm for scientific exploration. During his undergraduate studies, Ahmed embarked on a research endeavor focused on the role of a specific miRNA, 374b-5p, in relation to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism in children. His experiments involved the extraction of serum from young ADHD and autism patients and the meticulous application of qPCR to delve into the significance of this miRNA. His profound curiosity about the human brain and biology continued to fuel his academic pursuits. His passion for research has led him to collaborate with esteemed colleagues and professors from the University of St. Andrews and King's College London (KCL) on a pioneering project that explores the neurocognitive impacts of cigarette use in young adults and adolescents through a comprehensive meta-analysis and systematic review, a research being continued from his Master’s studies. In September 2023, Ahmed assumed the role of an instructor at Nile University, where he eagerly imparts his knowledge to undergraduate students. Ahmed's ultimate aspiration is to foster synergy between the realms of neuroscience and biotechnology, a journey he aspires to further as he embarks on his Ph.D. With his unwavering dedication to scientific inquiry, Ahmed is prepared to make significant contributions to our understanding of the human brain.
