Dr. Sherif Abouelhadid was Deputy Director at the Antimicrobial Resistance Centre, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, United Kingdom. Over the last 15 years, he contributed to developing several vaccines against the World Health Organisation Bacterial Pathogen Priority List. He published seminal work in vaccine development and infection microbiology and holds a patent in vaccine technology. Dr. Abouelhadid has extensive experience in vaccine development in industry and academia, having worked at a leading vaccine company in Africa and a leading public health institute in the UK. He is also the co-founder of the Per-Ankh Foundation for Science & Technology, a deeptech focused foundation leveraging science innovation to provide effective solutions against socioeconomic and health burden in the Middle East and North Africa. In 2024, Dr. Abouelhadid has joined the School of Biotechnology at Nile University to develop novel therapeutic tools for pandemic preparedness in Low-to-Middle Income Countries (LMICs). He further has a profound passion for teaching excellence and currently teaches infection biology, immunology, and vaccine development at the undergraduate level at the School of Biotechnology.
