Prof. Sobhy Ahmed El-Sohaimy

Prof. Sobhy El-Sohaimy is currently a Professor of Biochemistry at Nile University, Egypt. He obtained his PhD in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry) from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Kazakhstan, in 2005. Prior to his current appointment, Prof. El-Sohaimy made significant contributions at the City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications in Egypt, where he founded and led the Department of Food Technology. He also held a professorship in Biochemistry and Nutrition at South Ural State University, Russian Federation. He is a founder and academic instructor for the bachelor’s program in "Functional Foods and Nutrition" and the master’s program in "Sport Nutrition" at SouthUral State University, Russia. His academic engagements include visiting professorships at Sassari University, Italy; Virginia Tech University, USA; South Ural State University, Russia; and a visiting scholar position at Lincoln University, New Zealand. Prof. El-Sohaimy has been principal investigator and key team member in numerous national and international research projects. He established a respected scientific school and cultivated extensive international collaborations with leading universities and research centers in the fields of biochemistry, functional foods, and nutraceuticals. His research expertise encompasses biochemistry of functional foods, nutraceuticals, and food biotechnology. He has authored a substantial body of scientific publications and contributed as an editor and reviewer to several prestigious international journals. At the City of Scientific Research, he supervised the Research Projects Office and chaired the International Agreements Committee. Notably, he has been recognized among the top 2% of world scientists for multiple consecutive years from 2022 to 2025. In 2023, his contributions were recognized with an Elsevier award for his articles linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals , and he was named the most reputable scientist in Chelyabinsk oblast, Russian Federation. Beyond research, Prof. El-Sohaimy has played a vital role in supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students and providing consultancy services to manufacturing industries. His distinguished career also includes serving as Cultural and Educational Attaché and Director of the Egyptian Cultural Center in Kazakhstan, alongside active involvement in developing new academic programs in food science and nutrition.
