Dr. Ebrahim Hassan has a bachelor's degree in microbiology from the faculty of science, Ain Shams University in Egypt, where he was offered a Teaching Assistant position at the same school (Microbiology department). He then moved to Germany for his post-graduate studies. He obtained a Master's degree in "Infectious Diseases" from Heidelberg University working on using viruses as a therapeutic alternative to treat cancer. He then moved to Freiburg University for his PhD working on Influenza viruses and their ability to cross the species barrier infecting humans from bird species. He then moved to the US as a post-doctoral fellow in Washington University in Saint Louis working on enteric viruses infecting the gastrointestinal tract (Noroviruses and Astrovirus) focusing on virus evolution and tropism. He then finally came back home to Egypt and was offered a teaching position at NU
