Intellectual Property Rights

This course aims to provide an overview of the legal aspects of commercializing innovations and patent litigation in Egypt. It covers the basic concepts of Intellectual Property (IP) including the types of IP such as patents, trademarks, copyrights, and IC topologies, as well as proprietary databases. The course also delves into patentability requirements such as novelty, usefulness, and nonobviousness, and examines IP laws in Sri Lanka and other countries. The course includes case studies on patentability and covers the process of prior art searches and patent application, including precautions to be taken, local and foreign applications, and the Patent Cooperation Treaty system. It also includes instruction on drafting patent specifications and claims and legal issues such as infringement and validity
