Dr. Raghda Ramadan received her BSc degree with honours from Faculty of Pharmacy and Biotechnology at the German University in Cairo. Shortly afterwards, she worked as a junior researcher at the Egyptian National Research Centre (NRC) and the American University in Cairo, covering various aspects of computer-aided drug design. She obtained a M.Sc. degree in Biomedical Science, with Clinical Molecular Science specialization, from Maastricht University in Netherlands, a joint program with Hasselt University in Belgium, and she was awarded the best dissertation award prize. Consequently, she was accepted as a Ph.D. student at the University of Ghent in Belgium, with Prof. L. leybaert a lead scientist in the molecular biology field. Dr. Ramadan obtained her Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Science at School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Sep. 2019, focusing on investigating molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular diseases.

After obtaining her Ph.D., Dr. Ramadan has joined the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre (SCK CEN) interdisciplinary bioscience group, where she was leading the cardiovascular research at the Radiobiology unit. Her research focused on understanding Health effects of radiotherapy, mainly cardiovascular diseases and secondary cancers, focusing on epigenetic mechanisms, transcriptomics, proteomics, DNA damage response, and more. Utilizing state of the art techniques in cellular and molecular biology, she was able to identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets for which a US patent was filed for potential valorization. Her research was published in several prestigious international journals, and she was awarded the European MELODI Award, and the Belgian Nuclear Society- Young Generation award, in addition, her achievements extend to her role as a member of the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCAER).
